GENERAL SCHOOL INFORMATION / DETAILS 2006-07
DAILY DRESS CODE AND UNIFORMS
Uniforms will be worn on Wednesdays and on ALL field trips. Uniforms for boys are navy pants with white collared shirts. Girls wear dresses or skirts with a white collared shirt. Be sure all other days of the week the students are adhering to the dress code, which includes Navy or Khaki pants with a red, white, or navy collared shirt. During the Parent Reception on the first day in the Great Room there will be used uniforms for sales. Please inquire at the office any time, for used uniforms and after club information.
We have a uniform option for upper grades which is a gray skirt and wine colored polo from Dennis Uniform. Skirts/shorts must cover the lower torso with no skin showing between top and skirt. Skirts/shorts must be at least mid-thigh in length, no short skirts and no exposed undergarments. The girls dress/skirt can be ordered from Dennis Uniform Company at dennisuniform.com (our school code is WoPBRO, or use our link from our web page). A catalog can be picked up in the office.
The upper grades P.E. uniform for Lakeridge is a Red T-shirt (logo optional) with Navy shorts. Brookfield collared shirts are acceptable. P. E. clothes are brought in a gym bag for Lakeridge students only. Sneakers must not leave black marks on the floor. Brookfield PE students may stay in regular daily uniform.

All sweatshirts or sweaters worn on campus must be Red or Navy. Heavy coats worn outside can vary in color, but removed during class. Students are asked to comply to the dress code as soon as possible. Parents and students are asked to pay closer attention to appropriate dress this year.
MILK
If you want to order milk for .50 cents a day, Mon.-Fri. Septembers charge is $9.50, which includes Fridays. If you want to pay for the whole year the charge is $90.00. This can be added to your bill or make a check payable to Brookfield School. No refunds for absences.
CATERED HOT LUNCH PROGRAM
Enclosed is a menu. Please return with your childs selections for hot lunch starting the first day of school. Mon. - Thurs. hot lunch will be offered. No refunds for absences. Please pay by the month if possible. (Sept. = $52.50, Sept.-Nov. = $171.50, Dec.-Feb.=$196.00, Apr.-Jun.=$133, Annual=$500.50). Please pay in advance, the Wednesday before the next month begins.
SPECTRA ART - Now managed by Brookfield School We need parent volunteers in each class to help with our Art Program (1 hour, twice a month to setup and clean up). A professional Art teacher, Mrs. Switzer, has been hired. Brookfield will schedule classes with Mrs. Switzer. Funding for materials and supplies is $50. Please support art in our school! Please make a check to Brookfield School for $50 or have the office add the amount to your bill.
AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
The list of enrichment programs and clubs will be posted after all volunteers are enlisted for areas such as drama, choir, computer internet, science, drawing, etc. Any new talents or ideas are welcome. Currently we offer the following enrichment programs after school: Little Tennis on Mondays for lower grades. TaeKwon-Do with Master Wheatly on Tuesdays. Chess Club on Wed. Mud Puppies Clay on Fridays @ 1:30pm. All are welcome to come and see these classes. Sign up forms will be available at the parent reception on the first day of school and after the reception they will be located in the office.
MATH LAB AND READING LAB / TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM
We will have morning math and reading labs again this year! Details, costs, and schedules are to be announced. Additional computers and printers have been purchased for classrooms and labs. We now have a Librarian to assist students with their reading selections. Mrs. Snyder, the Librarian, and Mrs. Friedlander will schedule an information meeting for the parents on the Accelerated Reading Program. The Gifted Youth Math program from Stanford University (EPGY, a multimedia computer-based distance-learning courses) will be offered again this year but the program is being revised to be web based. No more disks! We are adding Brain Ware, please check with Mrs. Murray on limited enrollment. Prices for these programs will be available soon.
PTA FAMILY MEMBERSHIP
If you are wondering how to become involved in your childs school year, joining the PTA is a great beginning. Membership for both parents is encouraged at a cost of $20.00 per family. The PTA is very important to our Brookfield community. They meet monthly and do so many wonderful things to benefit your child, and the childs classroom. They fulfill teacher wish lists and volunteer time in such programs as: Library, Ski, and Hot Lunch servers. These charges are NOT on your August bill, and payment is your choice. Make it clear on your check what programs you have chosen so it is properly credited. PTA annual dues ($20.00) are made out to Brookfield PTA.
STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE ( OPTIONAL)
If your child is not already covered, student accident insurance is optional at $50.00 for the year. This medical coverage will pay for any injury to the child during the school day. Insurance enrollment period is during the month of September. This item can be added to your bill or make a check payable to Brookfield School.
