Brookfield School provides a setting where young people prosper in thought and imagination, in competence and character, as individuals, and as members of a school community.  Brookfield School is committed to the overall development of each child. To this end we provide strong academic instruction in the basic skills as well as a wide variety of cultural and aesthetic experiences within a success oriented program. Because there are great differences among children of the same age, factors other than chronological age are considered in planning a program to meet the intellectual, social, emotional and physical need of individuals in the classroom.

We believe that children learn best in a safe environment in which individuality is treasured, in which children are encourage to respond to the needs of others, and in which adult-child interpersonal relationships are characterized by mutual respect, affection and genuine concern for the welfare of others.

Our History
Brookfield School was founded in Sacramento in 1962 and opened in Reno, Nevada in 1978 and both locations continue to serve the educational needs of the community. Brookfield School- Reno is an independent, co-educational day school for 250 students in pre-school through eighth grade.  Brookfield School and parents have a shared vision of academically rich and rigorous, non-denominational educational program.  We have a pre-school campus to serve our younger students.  The Little Campus (TLC) will introduce 3 and 4 year olds to a more exciting, challenging, fun-filled day. It is a step above the typical pre-school curriculum.

Our Philosophy
Serving students in Reno, Sparks, Truckee, Carson City and surrounding communities, Brookfield’s programs are designed to help students develop their fullest intellectual and personal potentials.   Classes invite participation and are small enough for students to excel.  We believe that to educate is to do more than just teach.  Variations in students’ learning styles are recognized and appreciated.  Our teachers have the flexibility to modify the curriculum to specific studies.

Our Student Goals
Brookfield School will continuously be engaged in developing the model school of academic excellence dedicated to:
            student safety
            student responsibility
            student empowerment
            democratic process

Our Goals
The curriculum at Brookfield is designed to insure that children are encouraged to develop to the fullest of their potential. Their needs are met through an exceptionally broad and diversified sequence of both planned and informal experiences. The desired outcome of the program is development of the personal and intellectual qualities which will facilitate entry into secondary and post-secondary study. This will encourage broad, rich, and successful relationships and subsequently influence their chosen careers and family life.
