RE: Mediterranean Cruise, Rome to Venice

DATE AND BOAT CHANGE TO DEPART RENO May 13th – May June 30^th

Dear Potential Traveling Family,

I will be leading a small group of students, families and friends from Brookfield School to Italy, Turkey, Croatia, and Greece on Princess Cruise Lines. I have changed to departure date and kept the same itinerary. Cruise departure dates are NOW May 13^th from Rome to Venice. I have chosen the cruise to allow for stateroom and air upgrades at each individual’s choice, excellent meal options daily, and flexibility for travel before or after the cruise. The earlier April departure made passport arrangements difficult.

Itinerary is as follows: Depart Reno by May 13^th and arrive in Rome next day, Sat, and embark on the “Grand Princess”. Below is the published itinerary (always subject to change).

Go to the ship called “Grand Princess” and also investigate “Learn about our cruises” and the ports and adventures available at each of the 11 ports of call. Some stops include: Pompeii, Naples, Santorini, Kusadasi-Turkey to see the ruins of Ephesus, Mykonos, Athens (Piraeus) to see the Acropolis and shopping in the Plaka, Katakolon-Greece to see ancient Olympia, Corfu-Greece, then finally in Venice-Italy. A Cruise includes all meals and entertainment, not alcohol or beverages. Excursions on shore are not included in the price. Rooms that can hold 3 or 4 passengers book out faster. Listed below are per person rates. I have more details on rates for 3 and for passengers in a room. If you need to find a companion for the cruise please contact me, as rooms require a 2-person minimum. Earlier booking will get a better price on airfare and may lead to a room upgrade if they become available. As the cruise fills, these rates will increase.

Rates are per person, 2 passengers per room.

Air estimate is $1,300-1,500 per person. Delta, Lufthansa, KLM, & United all make this itinerary Princess transfers to and from airports cost $107. Princess transfers only from Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO). The airport is about 1-2 hour drive (42 miles) from port Civitavecchia to the Rome Airport.

Current estimate for the 12-day cruise is Adult/Child $2,900 – $3,500 for air/cruise/airport transfers. Earlier booking may bring the price down to $3,000, although all funds will be due when booking.

Additional travel money is needed for souvenirs/shore excursions. Our four country cruise will require passports and the web site for passports is: www.travel.state.gov/passport/index.html. Passports usually take around 6 weeks to get so prompt attention is essential.

Departure is only 17 weeks away. Both air and cruise reservations can be made through your travel agent or Princess Cruise lines (1-800-774-6237), I have found slightly cheaper rates at some online travel agents for air and cruise (ie www.expedia.com or www.cruises-n-more.com, 1-800-839-9384, www.kayak.com ). I will publish my itinerary as soon as I have booked our flights. I recommend the Princess Transfers ($107) to and from the airports when you arrange the cruise. A benefit when booking with Princess is that there are travel insurance options available for cancellations. I will be glad to make your arrangements with passport names and dates of birth. Please call me when you have booked and I can keep you informed on the trip details.

We will depart Reno by Thurs. May 24^th, arriving early to visit Venice. Princess transfers are only from FCO airport. Cruise is over on June 7, 2007. Any early arrival or extended stay, or air upgrades are totally your option, and arrangements can be made with your agent of choice. Our Memorial Holiday is Mon. May 28 and our last day of school is June 15^th. Student school work and travel can be accommodated.
