  Admissions and Placement

Applications for enrollment are accepted without regard to race, religion, gender, or national origin..

No religious doctrine is taught, although we do stress accepted standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior.

Every child including presently enrolled child must reapply each year. Progress, comportment as well timely application are used to determine admission for the following year.

Priority enrollment will be given to qualified returning Brookfield Students and their siblings. Only students whose accounts are in good standing will be considered for re-enrollment.

Submission of an application for admission does not mean your child is accepted. Your child is not considered enrolled until you receive an enrollment acknowledgement letter signed by the director.

Classes are available only if demand is sufficient. Class size and teacher-pupil ration will vary, based on several factors; these, and final class placement will be determined by the administration.

Children must be at least two years of age to be considered for enrollment. Children must be trained in bathroom habits, wearing diapers is not acceptable.

Children are placed in specific classes based on their age and maturity. For this reason, they should visit the school before attending. Administration will determine class placement. Top of Page

Absences, Attendance Changes, Vacations, or Illnesses

Please call us if your child will be absent to save us undue concern. Tuition is not pro-rated for illness or holidays.

We do honor a free 2-week vacation once a year. (Twice, Monday thru Friday). There is no fee for this time, provided the school has been notified two weeks in advance.

No school is held on legal holidays. The parent must have an alternate care provider for these days. We will be closed on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and the following day, and Christmas Day. You are still responsible for the tuition on closed holidays.

If the Holidays listed above falls on a Saturday, we will close on the Friday. If the Holiday falls on a Sunday, we will close on the Monday.

For staff planning reasons, your child must only attend the days agreed with the school. Days cannot be made up if your child is absent in his/her regular days. Other days can be arranged at the additional drop-in rate according to space available. Top of Page

Annual Enrollment Fee

An Enrollment Fee is charged annually and will be due in full each year.

Assessments

We observe your child’s development and behavior closely. You will have a formal conference 2 months after enrollment. You will receive 2 written evaluations or progress reports throughout the year. A conference can be requested at any time. We are always here to discuss any matter concerning your child’s well being. Informational notes may come home concerning daily issues.

Behavior

Student behavior and Brookfield behavior standards plays an important role in maintaining an optimum environment for leaning and for enjoying school. Actions that detract from this are not permitted. Brookfield reserves the right to immediately terminate or suspend the enrollment of any student at any time for unacceptable behavior as deemed by administration or for failure of the parents to support the enforcement. Birthdays

We love celebrating birthdays and every effort is made to make this a very special day for your child. Please consult the Director regarding any special catering arrangements. Of course, you are invited to participate!

Mats

You will need to a small blanket or towel for naptime. They will go home on Fridays for laundering.

Clothing

Your child should were clothes appropriate for our daily activities. Your child will go outside every day and will enjoy painting, sand and water play, clay modeling, etc. We cannot be responsible for the-condition of their clothing. We have over-shirts for extra messy activities. Open-Toed sandals are not suitable for outdoor play. We recommend that you select shoes with Velcro closings until your child is old enough to begin to learn to tie his or her shoes. Young children enjoy trying to do thinks for themselves and Velcro makes this easier. Please supply us with a complete change of labeled clothing in a zip-loc bag.  Top of Page

Discipline

Discipline is based upon positive reasons for respecting one another. We praise good behavior and redirect unacceptable behavior, giving clear explanations. We have simple, understandable rules and adults are firm, supportive, and consistent in helping children follow them. Parents will be notified of any problems in behavior that does not self correct over time

Drop Off and Pick Up

Please escort your child into the building, sign in, and then take your child to his or her teacher. We ask that a preschool child is never left unattended. Please always notify the teacher of your child’s arrival. Please also be sure to let your child’s teacher know when you leave. This is not just for security reasons; we need those goodbye hugs too! A child will not be released to a person who has not been authorized by a parent to pick up his or her child. To unsure maximum safety for the children any unknown person will be asked for ID to confirm they are on the child’s list. Top of Page

Fund-Raisers

Parents may decide to do a fund-raiser for a particular purchase. Your participation is voluntary. While we appreciate your support, there is no reason for you to feel obligated to participate.

Meals - Snacks

Nutritious meals will be prepared for the children. Menus are posted for your review. And you are welcome to take a copy home. Please supply an alternative meal if your child may not eat what we are offering. Please let us know of any allergies your child may have. We will provide 2 snacks and the parents will provide lunch. Hot lunch may be purchased; menu and cost will be displayed.  Top of Page

Personal information

If your child is experiencing any problem at home that you feel might affect his or her behavior at the center please let us know. We will keep the information confidential.

Payments*

q A non refundable fee is due with your enrollment application.

q By signing the enrollment form and contract, you agree to pay the tuition.

q All fees are due and payable in advance for each month your child will be attending.

q A 2-week prior plan is available with an additional fee.

q All payments are made prior to the month your child attends.

q There is a late fee of $20 a day if payment is not received when due.

q There is a $25 charge for any returned check.

q Please pick up your child promptly by 6:00 pm, or we will charge a late fee of $ 2.00 per minute. Top of Page

PAYMENT PLANS

q Monthly 10 or 11 months, Quarterly, Semi-Annual or Annual Payment

q By signing the enrollment form and contract, you agree to pay all attorney fees, court costs, filing fees, including charges or commissions up to 50% of balance that may be assessed by any collection agency retained by the school to pursue past due balances.

q You agree to pay interest at the rate of 1 ½ percent per month. (18% per year) on such balances.

School Hours

We make every effort to provide a happy, safe, clean and loving environment throughout the day for your child. Our activities are all planned t o make all aspects of learning fun and rewarding. We provide programs for children ages 2 and up.

If a student arrives late or departs early, a parent must sign the child in or out in the school office.

For late pickup: $2.00 for every minute past 6:00 pm

Hours: MONDAY thru FRIDAY 7:00 am until 6:oo pm

SATURDAY (when announced) 8:00am – until 5:30pm

(Saturday needs to be reserved by Thursday before)

Each program runs on the hours designated on "Our Program"

Programs offered will vary and class times are held depending on enrollment and family Needs.

Withdrawals / Termination

Parents who wish to withdraw their child may do so by notifying the school in writing at least 30 days before the withdrawal date. It is absolutely necessary to inform us if you decide to withdraw your child from the school. We will need a 30-day notification. If notification is less than one month you will be charged on a pro-rated basis.

Brookfield reserves the right to terminate any student’s enrollment at any time, for any reason not prohibited by law. The unused tuition will be refunded in such a case

It is important to Brookfield that a good relationship exists among parents, students, and teachers. Brookfield reserves the right to discontinue or decline continued enrollment/services to parents or guardians who, in Brookfield’s sole judgment, are uncooperative, are abusive to school administrations and staff , or who in Brookfield’s opinion, will not be satisfied with the school’s best efforts.Top of Page

Medical

By signing the enrollment application, you authorize Brookfield’s personnel to obtain emergency medical and or dental care or emergency evacuation from your child at your expense. You also verify that you have provided all pertinent information on the enrollment application regarding medical conditions or allergies the affect your child. During enrollment, or prior to attending school you must provide an annual physical exam and certified immunization record. Please keep us up to date with any new changes in shots.

In case of emergency, we will attempt to contact the parent or guardian. We will leave a message if neither is available, and continue to call until on of the individuals in contacted. If neither can be reached, we will contact the persons whose names are lined as contacts on the enrollment form, and the paramedics if necessary. The persons listed, on the form should be aware that they are listed, speak enough English to respond to the situation, and have agreed to pick up your child when called.

If your child shows any symptoms of illness during the day, he or she will be immediately isolated from the others and you will be contacted. Please use good judgment as to when you should keep your child home. If we cannot contact you, we will take your child to the hospital if we feel it is necessary.

Please keep your child home with any of the following symptoms until the symptoms disappear or you and your physician decide the child could return to the center without spreading infection to the other children. A child will be sent home who have the following:

Fever, Over 100 degrees –must be taken home Diarrhea or Vomiting

Mouth sores with drooling Skin Rash

Eye Drainage Unusual color of skin, eyes, stools, or urine

Any child who is unable to participate in normal activities will be sent home.

q Biting

If a child bites on a regular basis and does not respond to our efforts to correct the behavior, we may have to suspend the child for a period of time until he or she has outgrown the habit. We do respect the confidentiality rights of parents and will not disclose the name of a biting child without the consent of the parent. Top of Page

q Health and Safety

We will notify you if your child has been exposed to a contagious disease so that you can be alert to symptoms of that disease in your child. We also ask you to keep us informed about exposures to contagious diseases, so that we can notify other parents to watch out for symptoms. While exposure to many contagious diseases is a normal part of childhood, these policies will minimize the risk of most preventable diseases.

q Hygiene Policies

Good hygiene habits go a long way to preventing the spread of disease. Staff and children at Brookfield ‘s TLC are in the habit of washing their hands after toileting, before meals and snacks, after coming in from outside and at any other time necessary during the day. We practice brushing teeth after lunch. Please be sure to endorse these good habits at home.

q Immunizations

All children must be immunized in order to attend school., and that parents provide updated information to the school as the child becomes of age and receives further immunizations. Top of Page

q Injuries

If your child is injured and needs medical assistance, your health insurance will be the primary source responsible for payment of any treatment. We do have accident insurance that will cover any costs not covered by your insurance up to the maximum of the amount insured. Minor cuts and scrapes will be cared for. Parents are notified of any head injury. Accident insurance may be purchased at the school.

q Outdoors Play

Playing outside on our beautiful playgrounds is, for most children, one of the most rewarding activities of the day. A child should come to the center well enough to participate in all outdoor activities. If however, there are medical reasons for a child to have to remain indoors, we will be glad to comply with your request or a written physician’s request. We shorten our outdoor play time in extreme heat or cold.

Toilet Training

We will work with you during this important time. Please bring at least 2 changes of labeled clothing for your child in the training stage and keep us well supplied with pull-ups (minimum 5 per day). If we run out, we have to charge $1 per pull-up used. Please note that we do not wash or rinse any clothing soiled by body fluids. Such clothing will be placed in a sealed bag to go home.  Top of Page

Toys

We cannot be responsible for toys, watches, jewelry, etc brought from home. Please do not allow your child to bring them in, unless they are related to the theme or letter of the week. All toys, with the exception of violent toy such as guns, may be brought in on Show and Tell days. Of course small blankets or favorite stuffed animals for naptime are welcomed. Please label everything!

Treats         Please do not allow your child to bring candy, gum, or soda into the center.

Emergency Procedures

We have emergency evacuation drills at least once a month to be sure that staff and children are familiar with the procedures. Should we ever have to evacuate on of our buildings, we will use our other center as our alternative or a nearby facility.

Weather Policies

If Washoe County School District closes Reno school due to stormy weather, our center will close as well. Listen to KKOH 780 AM radio for verification. Delayed start or Incline school closures will not affect our center.
