BROOKFIELD SCHOOL - SNOW DAY POLICY
We try to keep the school open during all weather, but since our student and staff populations come from all over the area there are days when snow makes it impossible to hold school.
When there is a possibility of severely inclement weather we ask you to listen to the radio announcements on KKOH (780 AM on the radio dial) to find out if Brookfield is closed, or call the school after 8:00 a.m. We will follow Washoe County School District's decision. We will do what they do during area wide closures (excluding Incline at Tahoe) Brookfield is closed if Washoe County schools are closed. If you need to call the radio station, their number is: 852-8255.
We do not do late starts or early release like the Washoe County may for the bus routes. Just take your time driving to school. You may bring your child to school late without any repercussions. Once school is open, we DO NOT close early, but if parents wish to pick up their children early, they may, of course, do so. In the case of car pools, be certain that all parents of the children involved are contacted. Cautious driving in poor weather is always recommended.
