Hi! My name is Rose Ferrall. I've been a part of the Brookfield team for 22 years. I chose
Brookfield School because I believe in their philosophy and respect for each child. Prior to coming to
Brookfield School, I worked as a teacher's aide at Garfield Elementary School in the Bay Area. I was
a girl scout leader, campfire girl leader as well as various positions in the PTA including Vice President.
As a Pre-K teacher, my goal is to make learning fun! Teachers need to be happy, fun and somewhat
animated. Children also need to feel comfortable and safe in their environment. Building self esteem
has always been a major part of my teaching, someday these children will grow up to be leaders in
our communities. I also feel that as a teacher it's important to always model good behavior.
I have a fantastic husband Steve, of 34 years, two wonderful daughters; Melinda and Naomi both have
graduated from the University of Nevada Reno. I also have two beautiful grandchildren, Dylan 3 and
Avery 1. We also have two precious dogs, Ozzie and Shug.
My interest are exercising, gardening, camping, vacationing to Canada and spending quality time with good friends and family.
I've truly enjoyed the many years I've worked for Brookfield School.
My name is Terri Staats and I'm very excited to be joining the staff at Brookfield School. I have had the pleasure of working with middle school, high school, and severely handicapped children for fifteen years while working for the Washoe County School District. This past year I taught four year old pre school children and what a fun and memorable time that was.
Over the years some of my personal accomplishments have been getting married, raising our three children, running three marathons, finishing several sprint triathlons, and swimming the length of Donnor Lake. In my spare time I love to read, sew, bead, run, hike, bike, swim, fish, and play with my three dogs. I am looking forward to meeting all of the parents in my classroom and getting the new year started with your children.
My name is Mrs. Conkey. I will be teaching the Brown Bear preschool class this year. I am married with 3 young children who inspire me daily. I am originally from England and have lived in Reno for years. I am very excited to integrate my love of dance, and art and music into our preschool curriculum. I have been teaching under 5’s here and in England for over 10 years.
Working in the preschool environment is a joy for me. I hope to enjoy a magical year here at Brookfield.
Hi! My name is Mrs. Barrientos. I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach the Sun Bears this
year! This is going on my third year of teaching at Brookfield TLC. I love every moment of it. I have
worked with children for many years and I learn something new everyday from them. I have a
wonderful husband and three very active boys. I look forward to getting to know your precious
little ones this year. This is going to be another fabulous year.
Hi! I'm Kris Gist. I have chosen to work with children because I feel I can make a difference in their
lives. In my years of teaching, I have had the opportunity to work with children of all ages. I feel that
through love, learning, playing, discipline, and respect, I can provide something very valuable to each
and every child I am privileged to teach.
In 1997, I was lucky enough to help open St. Albert's Child Development Center. We started with 15
children and, upon leaving after nearly 10 years, had grown to 60 children.
For 3 years I worked with CAP (Child Assault Prevention) program. The CAP program provides workshops
for 2nd and 4th grade children. Here they are taught about their "rights", "bullies", and "strangers",
and "good and bad touching".
My husband, Doug and I have been married for 26 years. We have 2 daughters Megan 24 and Amanda 22. We also have
3 dogs Gretta, Hal, and Button. My special interests include traveling (my favorite location is Alaska), kayaking, biking and
riding my quad. One of my greatest accomplishments was the Breast Cancer 3 Day 60 Mile walk in and around San Diego.
In my quiet time I like to read, sew and collect Teddy Bears.
Thank you for letting me spend time with you most valuable possession.
