Mr. Haufler's Current Newsletter

My name is Gretchen Brugman and I teach 5th and 6th grades in all subjects.   I have a BA in psychology from Scripps College in California, and a multi-subject CLAD Teaching Credential from National University.   This is my first year at Brookfield, and I am excited to be here.  I live in Truckee, where I have been with my husband and our two crazy dogs for the past 9 years. I previously taught in a self-contained 7th grade classroom for 3 years at the Sugar Bowl Academy. Most recently, I spent two years teaching English in grades 6-12 at Forest Charter School in Truckee. I love the outdoors, especially trail running, skiing, mountain biking, and splashing around in Donner Lake. I fel there is nothing more exciting than learning, and I look forward to a year full of it with my students at Brookfield.

Ms. Laura Hayes - Upper Grades

My name is Laura Hayes and I loved teaching the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades last year and this year I will be teaching the 6th grade. I graduated from UNR and I am currently working on my masters. I have always been active and just this year I ran in my first half marathon! I thought it was so rewarding I went on to run a few more and plan to do my first full marathon before the years end. I love to travel and do anything that sounds like a good adventure, in fact just this summer I went skydiving…FUN! I have my little sidekick Lili, she’s a basset hound, and she prefers long slow walks instead of my runs .

I look forward to another year with everyone, and feel as though I could not be any luckier for having the opportunity to teach at Brookfield.
