Mrs. Buccambuso became part of the Brookfield School family in 2017. Starting as a Pre-1st assistant and Specials teacher, she worked with Mrs. Gookin’s Pre-1st (Kindergarten) class while educating our entire Elementary student body in Computers. Last year she lead one of our esteemed Junior Kindergarten classrooms at The Little Campus. This year she is delighted to teach 1st grade at our Elementary Campus. She brings a wealth of knowledge to this role, having worked with many of our students in the past few years, and plans to share her experience to better prepare her class for their upcoming transition into 1st grade. Mrs. Buccambuso was born and raised in Nevada City, CA where her family still resides and visits often. After graduating high school, she moved to the Midwest to pursue her degree in Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute. In 2011 she graduated with her BFA and began working as an administrator for KCAI’s Continuing Education Department. Here, she collaborated with teachers to develop adult and youth art curriculum. Having missed her family dearly, she relocated back to the West Coast to further her education. Mrs. Buccambuso is actively pursuing her Master of Arts in Teaching and teacher licensure in Nevada. Since moving to Reno in 2015, she has enjoyed teaching for the Discovery Museum, St. Mary’s Art Center, Tahoe Expedition Academy, and now, Brookfield School.
Having a background in art, Mrs. Buccambuso strives to support her students’ imagination while encouraging them to be creative problem solvers of this world. She believes that creativity can serve as an outlet for higher avenues and concepts in learning. Furthermore, by incorporating visual art, nature and dramatic play into her everyday curriculum, she believes students stay better engaged in active learning. Mrs. Buccambuso also strives to develop a strong relationship with student families and believes working together to fit the individual needs and development of each child is one of the key elements to student success.
In her free time, Mrs. Buccambuso can be found hiking with her husband Matt, and bonding with their precious baby boy, Jack. She loves living in Reno as it’s positioned closely to the Sierra Nevada Mountains and provides their family with many outdoor adventures. Other favorite pastimes of hers include art, running and biking. Mrs. Buccambuso is a lover of all things natural and enjoys sharing life’s many beauties with her students.
